Inspiration in winter
February 2, 2020
The dreary weather and shorter days can cause boredom and lack of inspiration. As 2020 begins, it may feel difficult to be excited about a fresh start when there is little inspiration around you. Not only is it a new year, but a fresh start to the semester. The school year may feel like it’s dragging on forever and homework may start to feel especially pointless. Overall, life may feel like a never–ending cycle of exhaustion.
If you happen to feel this way, fear not. There are plenty of ways to ditch the weariness and fall in love with life once again. All you need is a little inspiration.
Inspiration can come from anywhere. One of the best ways to spark creativity is through art. Art itself takes on many forms. Visual art can be inspiring for many people. Visit an art museum and find paintings or artworks that interest you. Contemplate the deeper meaning behind the piece. Research the artist and discover more about their art style and themes.
Making art is another way to add creativity. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Simply doodling or using old watercolors found in the back of a closet will work just fine. The act of creating art is a great way to release stress and meditate on one’s current state of mind.
Reading books is another way to find some excitement. A famous quote by J.K Rowling is, “If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.” This seems to hold true for most people. Great literature has a special way of leaving one wanting more. So, make a commitment to finding the perfect book. Ask friends about their favorite books and read them.
Cinematic masterpieces deliver a feeling of excitement like nothing else. Whether it provides comedic relief, romance, action or suspense, movies have a way of resonating with the deepest parts of the soul. Make a tradition with friends and watch a new movie once a month. Become world-renowned film critics, just for fun.
Listening to music is yet another way to add some spice into your life. Not just any music – new music. Discover new artists by consulting friends and family. Pick a new genre of music and listen to it for a while. Finding new songs to enjoy feels rewarding and exciting. It also provides more opportunities to attend concerts.
These are just a few ways to fall in love with life again. Not only will one feel more inspired than ever, but he or she will also become a more well-rounded person overflowing with knowledge. These people are wonderful conversationalists and make the world a much happier, more vibrant place.
