If you’ve ever stepped foot inside the bathrooms at Central, you probably wanted to walk out as fast as you walked in. The state of our bathrooms can sometimes get out of hand, with careless students exhibiting careless behavior.
Starting with toilets being plugged so they can barely function, drawings on the stalls, rarely any soap and students clogging the sinks. And worst of all, the bathrooms reek of marijuana and body odors.
Students who skip class in the bathrooms write and draw inappropriate words or pictures on the walls. The bathrooms are an absolute mess, and dangerous to be honest. Imagine if some kids wanted to have some fun and put wet toilet paper on the floors to make some puddles, some other student walks in to use the bathroom, slips and falls right on their back. That isn’t safe or fair to that student. Students often don’t get caught or get in trouble for their behavior in the bathrooms, which only encourages them to continue the bad behaviors.
Security and administrators need to do a better job of making sure that students don’t vandalize and destroy the school bathrooms and environment. Some administrators will monitor the bathrooms but not make an effort to ask anyone for cleaning maintenance. I don’t want to say that some don’t do their job because they aren’t janitors, but we have janitors that they can contact. Students helping to keep the bathrooms clean will make the place better overall.
Security and administration also need to do a better job at disciplining students for vandalism and making messes in the bathrooms. They aren’t toddlers, so they shouldn’t be let off the hook like they are. We need higher discipline at Central.
